this movie is why I am the way I am

Most quoted Galaxy Quest line in this household: “Wearing a wool suit and a rubber head in Goblin Valley is a unique … endurance test.” (Alan Rickman in the Making Of). I’m afraid I’m unable to explain this.

I love this movie because it playfully pokes fun of geek culture without mocking us. Sometimes other geek comedy shows feel like they’re making fun OF geeks (“lolz, so socially awkward! Look at them! They love their little action figure toys and silly films!”) This feels like a film FOR us. Galaxy Quest is a movie I can watch over and over again.

“But I played Lear when I was twenty!”  Nerds on sets will always find each other in the most terrible moments of hurry up and wait and say this to each other in our shitty Alan Rickman voices.  Always.
